I came to Philadelphia for a conference and I found the Thena to be convenient and easy. I’ll be back

Central, comfortable, and great host
Positive: Location was great, and bed was comfortable. It was also very nice to have your own stovetop, so you didn't have to spend a ton on food.

Great location, minimalist vibe, attention to some details would make it great
Positive: Location was great. The bed was super comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space. The tv is enormous! The bathroom was updated & attractive. Our room did not face the street so the view wasn’t pretty, but it was quiet every night & easy to sleep. Staff responded promptly & courteously to our emails. Altho they never succeeded in addressing any of the issues, they did offer to refund us for a portion of one night. It was unexpected, and appreciated.
Negative: Specific issues: We were visiting during unseasonably hot weather and the air conditioner did not work adequately. Staff responded promptly to our emails every day, with assurances to fix the issue, but it was never fixed during our 3-night stay. Requested one additional set of bath towels; never received them. It was impossible to take a shower because the water temperatures were hot & scalding hot.
In terms of general comfort/amenities: the studio has a pretty extensive kitchenette, but there are no chairs in the unit; the only option is to eat on the bed. We used the wooden cutting board as a food tray. One additional chair would be useful.
Also, the only lighting was bright overhead canisters, with switches by the main door; 1 or 2 reading lights by the bed and/or dimmer switches for the overheads would be a big improvement.

EXCELLENT LOCATION
The location of the property and its condition are excellent. I felt safe coming/going from the property. Check in is easy & clear. The room was well sized and the extras - the mini kitchen - are well thought out. The bed/bedding is excellent, as well. It was all very clean and well maintained. Parking is described as 'on-site' which is misleading. There's paid parking across the street and in several places nearby. The lot across the street was fully booked and I got a place .2 miles away which wasn't awful. "On site" to me means literally on site, like a parking garage under/next to the building. This is the second time this has happened to me in Philly. The first time it was on another platform and 'on site' turned out to mean street parking so better than that. The shower tap controls both the rain showerhead and a secondary wand shower but it took some experimentation to figure out how to balance them, then set the temperature and the water pressure. Never did get the temp figured out, really, just fortunate the water wasn't too hot. The water pressure might not be strong enough for both options. The other surprise was the lack of any kind of bedside lamp. The only lighting option is the overhead spots. As overhead lighting goes, it's pretty soft and there's ambient light from outside if the curtains are left open but I didn't care for either option. Ended up borrowing a small salt lamp from the person I was visiting in Philly.
